About  T O U R I N G  the  I V O R I E S

It was June, 2012.  Fourteen shows, over 25 days, across four states.  4,000 miles of pure epic-ness.   The first of many more grand adventures known as Touring the Ivories.

We, Michele McLaughlin and Scott D. Davis, have earned bragging rights to a claim that very few, if any, independent pianists can make; the tour exceeded all our expectations of success!!  Ya know what's even more remarkable?   After countless hours cooped up in the same car, we're still friends and can't wait to book another tour!!  Have you ever heard of such a thing happening before?  Neither have we.  Therefore, the tours must go on...

We could fill an entire book, or at least a lengthy blog, with inspiring stories from the road. Here's but one example:

Out of love for his daughter, a father persuades us to add an extra tour date in their remote city, where we had almost no fans on our mailing list.   On paper, it didn't look like a good idea.  But his enthusiasm was infectious, so we said yes.   He found a small venue with a great piano, offered us a place to crash, and filled the venue with 30+ of his friends, neighbors, and family.  Very few of them had ever heard of us before, yet their excitement in ant icipation of the show was palpable.  30+ new fan list sign-ups later, we headed to his house to have dinner with his family, and of course, his daughter.   They told us of how much she loves learning the piano, and of how Michele's music is a big part of what motivates her love of learning and playing piano music.   To her, Michele is as much a celebrity as anyone, more than that, an inspiration.  We sat with her at her upright piano, shared our songs with her, she played for us, and we all got to know each other a little.  Imagine if, when you were little, your father invited your favorite, most inspirational artist to come play a show for you and your friends, have dinner with you, and spend some one-on-one time.  Awesome dad.  Lucky girl.  Lucky us, that this girl is now OUR inspiration!

There's more stories on our blog HERE. Read it, look at the pictures, watch the videos.  Show it to your neighbors and friends, then fight over who gets to host our next concert.  So yeah, the tours must definitely go on!

The next, much more extensive chapter of Touring the Ivories continues this Summer.   Our route takes us through these states (CA, AZ, NM, TX, OK, AR, TN, AL, GA, SC, NC, VA, MD, PA, NY, MA, IN, IL, MO, KS, CO, UT) 8000 miles this time, 25+ shows, across 22 states, and even more countless hours in the car!  Too ambitious?  We don't think so... we're excited to get out there and play for you.

The last tour was built entirely on invitations from fans just like you, so don't be shy, we need your help to make it happen.  If you have a piano, grand or upright, you can host something amazing!  If you don't, find out who among your neighbors or friends has one, then persuade, pressure, or blackmail them into hosting a show.  They'll thank you for it, we promise!   You still canât find a piano?  Churches and piano stores make great venues too.  So, please don't hesitate to say "Hey!!  Come play for me!".  Your input and feedback will help us determine where to play.  All it takes is tiny bit of your time and effort and a lot of excitement and enthusiasm, so let's do something awesome!

Drop us a note to let us know what you think.  If you saw us on our West Coast Tour, share your thoughts about the shows.  If you want to learn more, or want us to come to your area, don't be afraid to shout out. If your state was not on the list, we still want to hear from you!  Touring the Ivories will continue beyond this next tour.

Stay tuned... The next Touring The Ivories adventure begins Summer, 2013.  Together, we will make it rock! :)
